In January 1996 Open Door Community Church had its first worship service with three people in attendance. They met in the living room of Randy and Gary's home. Randy stressed that although he and Gary are gay, Open Door Community Church was not an exclusively gay church. "We are a part of the church of Jesus Christ which consists of all who profess Christ as Savior," Randy stated in an early meeting. "The church must be an open door for all who are hungry for God, who are searching for meaning in their lives, who need our Savior Jesus Christ, and who need the fellowship of the body of Christ, yet have been told or have been made to feel in the past unwelcome in the faith community." From humble beginnings grew a ministry that continues to teach the message of God's Grace and Unconditional Love all across not only Arkansas, but this nation and in countries across the globe as well. Thoughout the year 2006, Open Door Community Church is celebrating 10 years of ministry with numerous special events, including concerts, special guest speakers, and much more.
